Crossborder excursions

Dresden and Meissen

(8-10 hours)

We will gladly organize for you or accompany you on your trip to the capital of Saxony, to which you may wish to add a visit to the former Saxon capital, Meissen. The exploration of the renewed Baroque center of Dresden gives us the opportunity to recall both significant moments of World War II and the bombing of the city, as well as the period during the culmination of the Wettin absolutism at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, when many significant buildings emerged, defining today's look of the historic part of the city, including the famous Zwinger Gallery. The lecture presents key moments of the House of Wettin’s 800-year rule. It also focuses on the emergence of modern Germany, and provides information about the artists who influenced the cultural development of the city, such as Wagner, Weber, Schiller, Goethe, Canaletto, and several others. We will also talk about the importance of the Academy of Fine Arts and the treasures of the numerous museums and galleries in the city.

In your spare time, you can visit some of the famous Dresden galleries and museums, as well as the shopping centers - Dresden, of course, is also popular with tourists because of the chance to make some bargain purchases.

Regensburg

The city where the sessions of the Imperial Parliament were held and the kings of the Holy Roman Empire were elected is worth visiting; and not only because of its rich history that takes us back to the old Roman Empire from the time of Mark Aurelius, but also because Regensburg impresses with its beauty and specific look, which is characterized by the unique residential towers. Here you will find a number of ancient churches, such as the Roman Basilica of St. James, the Gothic Cathedral of St. Peter, famous for its laughing angel, and richly decorated Baroque temples. In Regensburg there is also the prominent Catholic Academy, where former Pope Benedict XVI also studied. Here, across the Danube passes the oldest bridge in Bavaria. Close by, you can order the famous Regensburg sausages or visit one of the local breweries.

This tour guide service we can offer while escorting a group from Prague on their way to the cruise along the Danube or to Munich and other German cities.

Krakow

Do you want to get to know the old capital of Poland where coronations of the Polish kings took place even after the relocation of the king’s seat and institutions of the Polish-Lithuanian Union in Warsaw? Do you wish to visit the Cathedral of Wawel Castle, where the Polish rulers were buried in the past? From Prague we can take a 2-3 day trip to Krakow and its surroundings. In the square we will visit the Church of the Virgin Mary and its 13-meter tall wooden altar. We will go to the oldest preserved part of the Jagiellonian University of 1364 (it is the second oldest university north of the Alps). We will retell the story about the brave defense of the city at the end of World War II. We will also taste the delicious Polish cakes at the local pastry shops.

If we take a three-day trip, we can visit the nearby village of Wielicka, where the longest mined salt mines are located, which impress with their amazing galleries, salt ponds, chapels, and above all with their incredible church, whose decoration is totally made from salt.
